The Moy Yat Lineage began in 1962 in Hong Kong, which was a British colony on the southern coast of China. The fundamental objective of the Moy Yat Family was to preserve and protect the Ving Tsun System. In this context, Patriarch Moy Yat, who held the title of 9th Generation Ving Tsun (GVT), became the youngest family leader to be recognized by his master, Patriarch Ip Man, who was the leader of the renowned Ip Man Clan within the Ving Tsun System. This achievement was a significant milestone in the history of the Moy Yat lineage and was documented in the Chinese governmental museum Ip Man Tong.
Besides Bruce Lee, who is a legendary figure, the only disciple of Patriarch Ip Man to establish himself in the West and have a dedicated panel in the disciples' wing of the museum is Patriarch Moy Yat. This may be related to the fact that he was the first recognized master in Hong Kong to emigrate abroad.
Furthermore, Patriarch Moy Yat had a rare opportunity to prepare for approximately 10 years for the mission of preserving and promoting the Ving Tsun System in the West under the dedicated guidance of his mentor, Patriarch Ip Man. Establishing himself in New York, which was the epicenter of the Western capitalist world, he managed to build a deep and comprehensive legacy, with the goal of protecting the Ving Tsun System on a global scale.
